Home Remedies for Acne • 03.12.09
We’ve put together some home remedies for acne you can try that are easy and inexpensive. They won’t heal your acne overnight but if you persevere they will help to improve the condition of your skin and reduce the number of flare ups in a few weeks.
- Wash your face twice a day with a mild, sulfur based soap. Be gentle and do not rub or scrub too much as this will cause more irritation. Do not wash more than twice a day.
- Take a chromium supplement to help prevent flareups and to heal pimples.
- Ensure you have a healthy diet and take a multi vitamin daily.
- Go without makeup if possible or use water based, not oil based, cosmetics.
- Drink at least 8 glasses of water every day.
- Eat foods rich in vitamin A or take a supplement. Vitamin A is needed for a healthy skin, is a powerful anti oxidant and can help to control the production of sebum.
- Once a week use a honey mask. Honey is an effective bactericide and is gentle on the skin.
- Do not pick or squeeze the pimples as this will cause the bacteria to spread out under the skin and produce more breakouts.
- Wash your pillowcase at least 3 times a week to prevent reinfection of the skin. Dirt and oil transferred to the pillowcase can be easily transferred back onto the skin as you sleep resulting and make your acne worse.
- Avoid touching your face or letting your hair touch your face. Wash your hair at least every other day.
Making these changes to your lifestyle and using acne home remedies can make a big difference to the condition of your skin and to the number of flareups you suffer. Allow at least a month after instituting these changes to see any beneficial effects. Other acne free treatments will also work more efficiently if you have a healthy lifestyle and look after your skin properly.
